On day 29 we cranked out some distance on hwy 17, a very flat stretch in a Colorado valley, until we had gone about 40 miles. Then we climbed back up into the Rockies up and over Poncha Pass (9,010 ft). Once we started climbing we were surrounded by some of Colorado's 14'ers, or 14,000+ ft peaks, which made for quite a scenic ascent.
We spent the night at Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base, a very cool scout camp that specializes in activities such as white water rafting, mountaineering, mountain biking, and rock climbing. Its specialty is high adventure and so it doesn't offer the regular merit badge classes.
Tomorrow we will be enjoying white water rafting lead by the staff at Rocky Mountain High Adventure. I am sure it will be one of the highlights of the trip!
