Today, being a short riding day, we were able to sleep in a bit and didn't get riding until 9:00. As we were about to set off, I was pleasantly surprised to find my uncle Mark had arrived to ride with us for a while. For most of the first 10 miles we were on bike trails. Our biggest climb for the day was the Dumbarton bridge, which was only a short uphill.
Upon descending from the bridge we arrived in a preserved marsh area where we took a short break, complements of our support crew. We then got back on our bikes and entered into the East Bay.

After many miles of city streets we once again entered a bike path that followed along the bay. This we rode all the way into San Leandro to our accommodations for the night at the San Francisco Bay Area Council of the BSA headquarters.
At the SFBAC HQ we were welcomed by a few council staff members and a reporter from a San Leandro newspaper. They had prepared a great lunch for us and we stuffed ourselves with grilled salmon and chicken, among other delectables.
